Recall Tara Armstrong Campaign

About This Campaign

The Recall Tara Armstrong campaign is a grassroots, community-driven effort based in the Kelowna–Lake Country–Coldstream electoral district. Our work is fueled by residents who believe their MLA should be transparent, accountable, and willing to engage openly with the people she represents.

During the 2024 provincial election, Tara Armstrong ran as a BC Conservative. Within six months of being elected, she left the party, sat briefly as an independent, and then co-founded a new political party—OneBC—alongside MLA Dallas Brodie. Since forming this party, Armstrong and Brodie have introduced several controversial bills that target trans youth, undermine Indigenous rights, and disregard evidence-based public education. Armstrong also declined to participate in public debates and avoided media engagement during her campaign, limiting opportunities for voters to understand her positions.

This campaign brings together community members who are concerned about these actions and want to ensure that their elected representative reflects the values, rights, and diversity of the region. We are committed to building a strong, well-organized volunteer network ahead of the earliest date a recall application can be filed: April 20, 2026.

Once Elections BC approves a recall petition, we will have only 60 days to collect more than 18,000 valid signatures from registered voters in the district. Achieving this requires substantial preparation, broad participation, and a coordinated team ready to mobilize the moment approval is granted.

Together, we are working to ensure accountability in public office and to uphold the principles of inclusion, transparency, and respectful community representation.

Only voters who were registered to vote in the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream electoral district in the October 2024 provincial election are eligible to sign an official recall petition. (See the attached map.) Additionally, on the date a voter signs a recall petition, the individual must be a registered voter in British Columbia.

You can’t sign the petition until the recall process has been approved by Elections BC. This will be some time after April 20, 2026, 18 months after the provincial election. When Elections BC receives a recall petition with the required number of signatures, they begin a structured verification process. First, officials check each signature to confirm that it belongs to a registered voter in the electoral district and that it was signed within the official 60-day collection period. This verification stage can take up to 42 days.

If the petition is confirmed to have enough valid signatures, Elections BC notifies the MLA and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. At that point, the MLA is officially recalled, and their seat becomes vacant. A by-election must then be called within 90 days to fill the seat, giving voters the opportunity to choose a new representative.
